A knock on the door. A heavy knock. 3am. Who could it be? His wife looked at him. He looked back at her. She told him to check the door. He went to the security camera. There were 5 men at the door. He checked the other doors… two men were manning those.
He sighed. His heartbeat doubled. Blood had drained from his legs. He opened the door for them. He got a slap for wasting their time. They led him into the living room. They wanted money. They told him the transfers into his accounts. The last sum of money he had withdrawn and the dollar value he brought home.
They asked for the dollars. The figures were accurate. He went up and gave them the money. They left without hurting him further. The next day he made a report to the police.
The police arrested his BDC operator and went to the bank. After a lot of harassment nothing was proven. He spent money to find money that could not be found.
It was 9 months later that he found the culprits by a stroke of luck. He had gone to see a friend and saw a former staff of the laundry he used. The staff had bought a Tucson. The staff saw him and started to run. He was walking to greet him, to congratulate him on the new car.
He was surprised. He got home, narrated the story to his wife and called the Laundry. The manager was puzzled. Then the story added up.
He was fond of forgetting receipts from his transactions in his clothes. The last one was the day he bought 30k dollars and as usual left the receipt in his pockets when taking the clothes to the laundry.
The rest was easy to fit together. He did make some arrests and got a confession plus a seized car.
